The main achievements of the unit include significant contributions from institutions such as Changsha Jiaotong University, Shaoyang Hydraulic Co., Ltd., and Hunan Pu Yuan Group. These organizations have made remarkable progress in the field of hydraulic engineering machinery, which is widely applied in road construction, railway projects, port terminals, mining operations, and both industrial and civil construction. Among these applications, mobile cranes are particularly important. Currently, the largest crane in China has a lifting capacity of around 50 tons, but reaching 50 tons or even exceeding 100 tons presents major technical challenges. One of the key components that pose difficulty is the dual-luffing mechanism, especially when it involves hydraulic systems. The hydraulic balance valve, a critical part of this system, is one of the most challenging components to develop.
At present, the counterbalance valves produced domestically are not sufficient to meet the performance requirements for large-tonnage cranes, especially those with dual-cylinder luffing systems. To address this issue, the development of a new hydraulic balance valve was initiated. This project involved a comprehensive investigation into various types of hydraulic balance valves both domestically and internationally. Based on this research, several innovative solutions were proposed and successfully implemented. The outcome of this work represents a major breakthrough in the field, offering improved performance and reliability for high-capacity cranes. This advancement not only enhances the capabilities of existing equipment but also opens up new possibilities for future developments in hydraulic engineering technology.
