3-Alarm fatal fire in Bensenville, 11-19-17 (part 1)

Firefighters from Bensenville responded to an automatic fire alarm at 361 Marshall Road around 6:15 a.m. this morning. Shortly after, multiple calls came in reporting flames coming from the building. When police arrived, they saw visible fire coming from a third-floor window. The fire quickly spread through the mansard roof and into the attic, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a Box Alarm. As the fire crossed a fire wall, it was escalated to a Third Alarm. Bensenville Truck 107, Leyden Quint 133, and Chicago Squad 7A deployed large master streams, while several hand lines were also used after crews evacuated the building. One resident was missing and later found deceased during the overhaul process. Multiple fire departments were on scene, including Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Leyden Township, Chicago, Elk Grove, Rosemont, Schiller Park, Franklin Park, Addison, Broadview, Hillside, Westchester, Mount Prospect, Roselle, Norwood Park, and York Center.
