GTUIT offers innovative gas recovery units

In areas where there is a lack of oil and gas infrastructure, the gas recovery unit provided by GTUIT, selected by North American energy company Enterplus, has easily solved this problem in the face of the most stringent wellhead gas recovery requirements ever. GTUIT is a Caterpillar-owned professional manufacturer specializing in innovative mobile gas capture and natural gas separation technologies.

Wellhead gas is a by-product of oil production. In many places, the well is connected directly to the pipeline and the gas is transported through the pipeline to the treatment station. However, in the Fort Berthold Indian Residency in the Bakken field in North Dakota, the construction of infrastructure has not been able to keep up with the rate of oil production, and the North Dakota Industry Association has tightened the requirements for well gas emissions.
Enterplus US facility engineering leader Norm Robotham said: "The new regulations require oil and gas producers to meet a certain amount of gas recovery, otherwise they must reduce production to 100 to 200 barrels per day. Some of our wells can produce more than 1,000 barrels per day, so This is a very deadly sanction. Emissions reduction but no reduction in production is an important factor in our decision to consider the GTUIT gas recovery unit."
It is reported that the size of those gas recovery units is equivalent to a semi-trailer and is very easy to connect with the engine and generator set. They can significantly reduce wellhead exhaust emissions, thereby reducing the flammable organic mixture that is vented to the atmosphere. These mixtures are recovered in the form of liquid natural gas (NGL), replacing the simple ignition venting, and the retained gas can be sold to the market in the future.
At present, Enterplus has three GTUIT gas recovery units in operation and one spare. If there is demand, Robotham will not hesitate to add more units.
“This technology has been tested and reasonably priced, and these units are very mobile, so you can move them as needed,” he said. “Our working relationship with GTUIT is very active at all levels. They are very reliable and trustworthy, they are doing it. This is the most important point in this special business.”
