63 Petroleum and Chemical Standards Complete Mission

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently issued Announcement No. 9 of 2008, which marks the formal repeal of 436 industry standards. This decision was made in accordance with the "Implementation Regulations of the Standardization Law," following a comprehensive review of all industry standards that had been in effect for more than five years. Among the standards being repealed, a significant portion belongs to the petroleum and chemical sectors. Specifically, 63 standards were removed from this category. These include 3 chemical industry standards, 2 petrochemical industry standards, and a large majority of 58 standards related to oil and natural gas. The removal of these outdated regulations is part of a broader effort to streamline industry practices, improve efficiency, and align national standards with current technological and economic realities. This move reflects the NDRC's ongoing commitment to modernizing China's standardization system. By eliminating obsolete or redundant standards, the commission aims to reduce administrative burdens on businesses and promote innovation across key industrial sectors.
