63 Petroleum and Chemical Standards Complete Mission

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently issued Announcement No. 9 of 2008, which marks the formal repeal of 436 industry standards. This decision comes as part of a broader effort to streamline and update China's standardization system in line with the "Implementation Regulations of the Standardization Law." Among the repealed standards, 63 belong to the petroleum and chemical industries, reflecting a significant focus on this sector. Specifically, the 63 standards include 3 from the chemical industry, 2 from the petrochemical industry, and a large majority—58—related to oil and natural gas. These standards were reviewed by the NDRC after being in effect for more than five years, as required under the regulations. The move aims to eliminate outdated or redundant guidelines, ensuring that industry practices remain aligned with current technological advancements and market needs.
