In terms of resources, although there are many phosphate rock in China, the average grade is only 17%. According to data from the China Investment Advisor, China maintains reserves of 16.768 billion tons of phosphate rock, but the recoverable amount is only 2.111 billion tons, among which the rich ore with a grade greater than 30% only accounts for 6.6%, only 1.108 billion tons, mainly concentrated in clouds and precious metals. , Sichuan, Hubei Province of the eight phosphate rock areas.

Since phosphate rock accounts for 25%-50% of various phosphate fertilizer production costs, phosphate concentrates are too expensive for most phosphate fertilizer plants. Therefore, companies will use limited high grades in phosphate fertilizer production. Phosphorous mineral resources are discarded from low-grade phosphate rock resources. In this way, the utilization status of phosphorus resources is extremely unreasonable, which not only wastes low-grade phosphate rock, but also makes the supply of high-grade phosphate rock in China tense.

In response to the above situation, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the “Ammonia Phosphate Production Access Requirements (Consultation Draft)” that the major provinces of phosphate fertilizers should formulate a development plan for the phosphate and compound fertilizer industry to guide the orderly development of the phosphate and compound fertilizer industry in the region and curb blindness. expansion.

The consultation draft stated that within three years, no new or expanded wet-process phosphoric acid and associated monoammonium phosphate or diammonium phosphate units will be built in principle. In accordance with the plans for relocation of enterprises in the region, the newly established wet-process phosphoric acid and associated monoammonium phosphate and diammonium phosphate plants must be protected by phosphorus and sulfur resources.

People in the industry believe that due to the scarcity of high-grade phosphorite resources, it is more difficult for enterprises that need to be relocated in accordance with the regional plans to enter the market again. With the phosphate fertilizer companies that do not meet the access requirements, they will gradually withdraw from the market and the price of ammonium phosphate products will further increase.
