Akesu Natural Gas has accumulated proven reserves of nearly 1 trillion cubic meters

In the Aksu region of Xinjiang, a key gas source for China's "West-to-East Gas Transmission" project, the cumulative proven natural gas reserves have reached an impressive 974.113 billion cubic meters. This significant reserve ensures that the West-East Gas Pipeline Project, which benefits over 200 million people in eastern and central China, will continue to operate with greater stability and abundance. In 2007, the Aksu region saw an increase in its natural gas production capacity by 2.5 billion cubic meters. The designed annual production capacity of the region stands at 20.5 billion cubic meters, while actual output reached 15.4 billion cubic meters, showing steady progress in meeting demand. Since early 2007, two major energy companies—CNPC Tarim Oilfield Company and Sinopec Northwest Oilfield Company—have been conducting large-scale geophysical exploration in the Aksu area. CNPC Tarim Oilfield is focusing on structures such as Xiqiu 2, 4, 5, 6, Hade Oilfield, Tubei No. 5, Dabei No. 6, and Keshen 1, 2, 7, and 8. Meanwhile, Sinopec Northwest Oilfield Company is working on data acquisition in the southern block of Tianshan within the Kuqa Depression and the northern block in Aiding, as well as in the Tahe Oilfield, aiming to discover new reserves to support future growth. According to reports, in 2007, the Tarim Oilfield supplied approximately 13.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the West-East Gas Pipeline. Today, it supplies more than 80 cities across 12 provinces in northern and eastern China. This consistent supply not only supports a wide range of downstream industrial enterprises but also plays a vital role in daily life for millions of residents, contributing significantly to economic development and quality of life.
