The reason for this decision is that the two parties believe that Mercedes-Benz's high-end heavy trucks lack consumer groups in China, and that the mid- to low-end heavy truck market is developing rapidly. Wu Yuejun, president of Foton Daimler, introduced that in the ten years since its establishment in 2002, Auman Heavy Trucks has sold 550,000 vehicles and established a network of more than 800 dealers and more than 3,400 service stations.
Fukuda Daimler Motors' Night Celebrate Auman's 10th Anniversary and Joint Venture's Operation of Double Happiness To boost Auman's heavy truck gold content, Foton Daimler decided to invest 135 million Euros (about 1 billion Renminbi) in building an engine plant in Huairou, Beijing. The plant will produce the Mercedes-Benz OM457 engine for the Auman high-end models. The new engine factory has a designed capacity of 45,000 units. Construction is expected to begin in the first half of 2013 and will be completed and put into production in 2014.
"In addition to providing engines, Daimler will also provide a lot of technical support to the joint venture company. Foreign experts are gradually entering the joint venture, which will bring remarkable results to the quality and brand promotion of Auman products," Zhang Jianming said.
