On December 6, 2012, Continental Group announced that Continental Automotive (Changchun) Co., Ltd. has officially started production of its second auto parts plant in Jingyue Park, Jilin Province, China. The new plant in Changchun will become the largest production base of Continental Group in China and Asia, with a total investment of 300 million yuan. The new plant will be fully operational in early January 2013 to meet the growing demand for auto parts in the Chinese and global markets.
At the opening ceremony of the new plant, Dr. Elmar Degenhart, chairman of the Chairman of the Continental Group, said: “China is an important market for the future development of the Continental Group. Changchun’s second auto parts factory is an important part of our development strategy.â€
According to Jiang Kongke, president of Continental China, this new plant is the 19th production plant in China since 1994. The establishment of this plant will consolidate the leading position of Continental Group's international auto parts suppliers.
According to reports, the new plant in Changchun mainly produces passive safety and sensors, chassis components, body and safety and commercial vehicle & aftermarket four business unit products, is expected to reach 12.5 million chassis and safety system components and 19 million pieces of annual output Body electronic components.
It is understood that the first manufacturing plant of Continental Automotive (Changchun) Co., Ltd. was established in 1995. It is one of the first plants of the Continental Group in China and has always been a very important production base of the Continental Group. The products are supplied to 63 places in China. 153 customers and exported to 54 customers in 18 countries.
In 2012, Continental Group increased its investment in China and promoted its business development. These include the official launch of the Heihe Winter Proving Ground, the launch of the Hefei two-wheeler tire factory, the expansion of the mainland-based Ty-Mike Automotive Systems Co., Ltd., and the announcement of the establishment of a new factory in Wuhu.
