16 New Hybrid Insect Resistant Cotton Varieties

In response to the unique challenges posed by hybrid insect-resistant cotton varieties in the market—especially the issues of mixed quality and inconsistent performance—Yandu District Agricultural Technology Extension Station in Yancheng City conducted a comparative trial in 2005. The objective was to identify hybrid insect-resistant cotton varieties that are well-suited for farmers’ cultivation, exhibit strong disease resistance, and possess high yield potential. A total of 16 new varieties were tested, with eight of them outperforming the control variety, Zhongmian 29. Among the tested varieties, **Zhongmian 003** stood out as the top-performing hybrid. It had a plant height of 130 cm, with 20.8 fruit branches per plant and 31.1 bolls per plant. Its seed cotton yield reached 250 kg/mu, and lint yield was 97 kg/mu. This variety has a medium height and a compact growth habit, with a growing period of 130 days, making it a semi-early maturing type. It exhibits rapid early growth, strong boll formation, and a concentrated boll set. Additionally, it has a well-developed root system, good resilience to adverse conditions, and strong adaptability. Another notable variety was **Tai D5 (Ezamian No. 10)**, which had a taller stature at 138 cm, with 21.2 fruit branches and 31 bolls per plant. Its yields were 247 kg/mu for seed cotton and 94 kg/mu for lint. It showed fast seedling growth and tall, thick stems. However, it matured earlier than average and exhibited premature aging. Its seed shells were thicker, which slightly affected germination speed. **Lu Mianyan No. 24** had a plant height of 133 cm, with 20.8 fruit branches and 30.8 bolls per plant. It yielded 245 kg/mu of seed cotton and 93 kg/mu of lint. This variety showed good early emergence and vigorous growth, with a compact plant structure and strong boll formation. It matured in 135 days and displayed overall favorable traits. **Si Kang No. 3** had a shorter plant height of 122 cm, with 20.5 fruit branches and 28.9 bolls per plant. Its seed cotton yield was 208 kg/mu, and lint yield was 89 kg/mu. With a 129-day growing period, it was also a medium-early maturing variety. It emerged quickly, had a neat stand, and showed good early maturity and high lint percentage. **Suza 1** reached 139 cm in height, with 21.5 fruit branches and 28.3 bolls per plant. Its yields were 226 kg/mu for seed cotton and 86 kg/mu for lint. The growing period was 140 days. It had a tall, tower-shaped structure, strong boll formation, and good adaptability. **Yuza 35** had a height of 129 cm, with 20.8 fruit branches and 27.8 bolls per plant. It yielded 208 kg/mu of seed cotton and 81 kg/mu of lint. It matured in 131 days and showed strong early emergence and vigorous growth. However, it is more sensitive to organic fertilizers, and under insufficient nutrient conditions, boll size may decrease. The **Cotton Institute Variety No. 48** had a height of 138 cm, with 20.6 fruit branches and 29.6 bolls per plant. It produced 212 kg/mu of seed cotton and 79 kg/mu of lint, with a growing period of 140 days. It had a loose plant structure and larger leaves, with strong boll development and normal precocity. **Lu Mianyan No. 20** reached 135 cm in height, with 20.4 fruit branches and 29.2 bolls per plant. It yielded 207 kg/mu of seed cotton and 79 kg/mu of lint, with a growing period of 135 days. It had a tower-shaped structure, strong boll formation, and robust mid-season growth. Due to adverse weather conditions during the test, some variety characteristics were not clearly visible. Therefore, further testing and demonstration are planned this year to better evaluate their performance.

The manufacturing and installation methods of the flange-welded double-sided seat plate are basically the same as the single-sided seat plate, but when the screw holes are drawn, the positions of the upper and lower screw holes of the seat plate must be staggered from each other and must not overlap; deck or bulkhead The diameter of the hole on the top is 2~3 mm larger than the diameter of the seat plate.
