The event focused on a groundbreaking development: Harbin Boiler Factory Co., Ltd. has independently developed a 600MW vertical pipe ring water-cooled wall supercritical boiler. Lu Yanchang, chairman of the China Electrical Engineering Society, along with academicians Qin Yuxi and Huang Qili from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting. Their presence underscored the significance of this achievement in the field of power generation.
As one of the world’s largest coal producers and consumers, China still relies heavily on coal-fired power plants for its electricity supply. To improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact, the country has been investing in high-efficiency, 600MW supercritical thermal power projects. However, despite growing demand, the use of vertical pipe water-cooled wall technology in supercritical boilers remains limited within China. This type of boiler is known for its low resistance and ease of installation, yet it has not been widely adopted due to a lack of domestic expertise.
Harbin Boiler Factory, leveraging its extensive experience in 600MW subcritical boiler technology, has partnered with Xi'an Jiaotong University to develop this cutting-edge supercritical boiler system. The project marks a major milestone, as it demonstrates the company's ability to design and manufacture core components of supercritical boilers. This advancement not only meets current market demands but also opens up new opportunities for growth and innovation in the power sector.
