Weichai: Engine "remanufacturing" opens up new horizons

Weichai Group is a 65-year-old automotive and equipment manufacturing group. In recent years, with the growth of engine-related emerging industries, the engine remanufacturing industry has emerged in this established company.

In March 2008, China's Auto Parts remanufacturing pilot work was officially launched. As one of the 14 pilot companies of the National Development and Reform Commission, Weichai’s “engine remanufacturing” started.

Remanufacture is the use of new technology to repair and remanufacture worn-out engine parts, making the old ones as new, and its power, economy and warranty period are exactly the same as those of the new machines. This is a low-cost manufacturing model, a high-level form of circular economy, and a new thing in China's machinery industry. According to statistics, for every 10,000 remanufactured engines produced, the added value of recycling is close to 360 million yuan, which can save 14.5 million kWh and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 600 tons. Compared with remanufactured new products, remanufacturing can save energy by 60% and reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions by 70%, which is a typical circular economy model.

“The remanufacturing of the engine is to make good use of the spare parts of the used machines, and at the same time, to rework or replace the failed parts, and finally reassemble them. The scrapped engine passes through this remanufacturing line and “returns to life.” Li Yungang, a college student at Weichai, spoke of this exciting new industry.

According to Li Yongtao, head of the test and assembly workshop of Weichai Group Remanufacturing Corporation, the engine remanufacturing industry has grown rapidly in recent years. "From the beginning of the month to dozens of units, to the current monthly production of several hundred units. Still can not meet the market demand. The main reason is that the quality of remanufactured engine is not bad, the price is lower, the price is higher than the new engine, natural Supply exceeds demand."

How to make the engine "new look"? According to reports, engine reengineering is a green manufacturing technology. It mainly uses nano-surface engineering technology to restore the performance of used products, that is, to use the special properties of nano-materials to change and strengthen the surface morphology, composition, and structure of worn and corroded parts. Make its quality and performance meet or exceed new products. It is understood that at present, the Weichai Group's engine remanufacturing technology is in cooperation with the US SRC Corporation and the equipment has reached the international advanced level.

The reporter saw the entire process of engine remanufacturing on the production line: The old engine was recycled into the factory and was first dismantled into single parts; all parts were then disassembled, measured, cleaned and tested, and the failed parts were reprocessed or replaced. The final re-assembly will fully restore the engine that has been scrapped in the past to the quality standard of the new product.

At present, the Weichai engine has a market capacity of more than 3 million units, and it is accelerating at an annual rate of more than 600,000 units. Faced with the broad prospects of the remanufacturing market, Weichai Group proposed that the development of the remanufacturing industry should be used as a breakthrough for enterprises to promote energy-saving emission reduction and foster new growth points so that the remanufacturing sector can cover vehicle engines, construction machinery, marine and power generation applications. Such power, make the remanufacturing industry bigger and stronger.

Stamping Parts

Metal Stamping Parts
Stamping (also known as pressing) is the process of placing flat sheet metal in either blank or coil form into a stamping press where a tool and die surface forms the metal into a net shape. Stamping includes a variety of sheet-metal forming manufacturing processes, such as punching using a machine press or stamping press, blanking, embossing, bending, flanging, and coining.[1] This could be a single stage operation where every stroke of the press produces the desired form on the sheet metal part, or could occur through a series of stages. The process is usually carried out on sheet metal, but can also be used on other materials, such as polystyrene.Stamping is usually done on cold metal sheet. See Forging for hot metal forming operations.

Stamping is by press and die for sheet, strip, pipe and profiles, such as outside force, to produce plastic deformation or separation, to obtain the required shape and size of the workpiece forming method (stamping).Stamping and forging belong to plastic processing (or pressure processing), called the forging press.Stamping of billet is mainly hot rolling and cold rolling steel plate and steel belt.Steel all over the world, there are 60 ~ 70% is plank, most of them after punching into finished products.Car body, chassis, fuel tank, radiator fin, boiler drum, the container shell, motor, electric iron core silicon steel sheet stamping processing.Instruments and meters, household appliances, bicycles, office machinery, household utensils, and other products, also have a large number of stamping parts.
Stamping processing is the use of conventional or special equipment of the power, the deformation of sheet metal in the mould is directly force and deformation, thereby gaining a certain shape, size and performance of the production technology of product parts.Sheet metal, stamping mould and equipment is processing of the three elements.According to the stamping processing temperature is divided into hot stamping and cold stamping. The former is suitable for the deformation resistance is high, poor plastic sheet metal processing; The latter at room temperature, it is commonly used plate stamping method. It is metal and plastic machining (or pressure) is one of the main methods, also belongs to the material molding engineering technology.
Used by stamping mold known as the stamping die, die for short.Die is the material (metal or non-metallic) processing into salt pieces of special tools required. Is of vital importance to the die in stamping, did not conform to the requirements of punching die, stamping production batch is difficult; No advanced punching die, stamping process of advanced cannot achieve.Stamping process and die, stamping equipment and materials to form the three elements of stamping processing, can only draw stamping them together
