The world's largest tractor, the AGCO Challenger MT875B, has set a new global record by cultivating an area equivalent to 780 football fields in just 24 hours. This impressive feat was achieved using a massive 14-meter-wide Gregoire Besson XXL turntable, covering 644 hectares of land in a single day. The record was officially broken by Benoit Verdin, a representative from Gregoire Besson, during a 24-hour non-stop driving test in Timișoara, Romania.
The tractor operated at a depth of 10 cm, specifically on medium to heavy clay loam soil, demonstrating remarkable efficiency and power. In just one day, it managed to till a vast area measuring 6.4 kilometers by 1 kilometer—equivalent to a straight strip of 155 millimeters wide running across the equator.
The standard model of the Challenger MT875B is capable of tilling up to 26.8 hectares per hour, which translates to roughly 30 football fields every hour. Its fuel efficiency is equally impressive, consuming only 4.42 liters of fuel per hectare—roughly the same as four standard soda bottles. This combination of speed, precision, and efficiency makes the Challenger MT875B a game-changer in modern agriculture, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in large-scale farming operations.
