The actual situation in China is the key to foreign choice

Some industry players considered more about the actual situation in the country when considering the level of engine technology.

Some oil experts told reporters that the quality of domestic oil products is one of the main considerations for foreign companies to choose engines. There is consensus on the low quality of domestic oil products. If the diesel engines that sell well in the European market are brought to the Chinese market in this situation, it is a big risk for companies. For example, he said that in the European market, cars equipped with diesel engines have accounted for 60% of last year's car sales, but why did not a European company launch its diesel engine in the Chinese market?

When exchanging opinions with the people of the Volkswagen Group, he found that the company’s quality of domestic oil products can be described as “grinding teeth”. The strength of joint venture partners is also considered by foreign parties. The most obvious example is Tianjin Toyota. Vios is not using the famous VTT-i engine but the 5A engine. Why? According to the analysis, one of the big reasons is that the strength of domestic companies is not enough. If the VTT-i engine is brought to China, the partner is not good enough for assembly. In the future, problems with the engine will be minor, and destroying the brand image that he has worked so hard is a major issue.

The problems faced by enterprises also affect the improvement of technological content

In fact, for domestic companies, they do not want to use new technologies. It is not a bad thing to occupy the first place in the market competition. However, the problem involved is that they have to carefully consider. Take Bora as an example, some industry engineers once told reporters that he believes that Bora’s technology is the highest among these domestic models. "The engine uses 'variable manifold length' and 'variable valve timing', and domestic engine technology is their best," the engineer told reporters. However, high-tech content is risky. The problem is that the higher the technological content, the lower the possibility of localization. Once problems arise, the greater the difficulties. Due to the high technical content and the inability to achieve localization, Bora's engines and their related parts and components must be imported, and the parts turnaround cycle is as high as six weeks. As a result, when Polaris appeared to have burned the ignition coil on a large scale at the beginning of this year, companies were extremely passive.

In addition to the problem of localization, there is the issue of price. The domestically produced sunlight is selected by Bluebird's transmission and engine, and Gore is equipped with Santana's power system, probably because of price considerations.

In addition to the above issues, the influence of domestic laws and regulations on engine technology content cannot be ignored. If the current technology level, the engine can meet the regulatory requirements, people do not have too many reasons to require companies to use the new engine.

Then there are some reasons for not getting on the table. According to the reporter, the reason why some foreign-funded enterprises do not provide advanced technology to domestic joint ventures may be to use the "excess heat" of mature technologies and products. “The products have to be replaced, but in pursuit of profit maximization, we can get a few years of reproduction in China. We can also charge a huge amount of technology transfer fees to the Chinese. They have no technology and they cannot negotiate with us during negotiations.” This kind of idea is estimated to have a certain market in the hearts of some foreign parties.
