The Moreland family, who owns the McDonald's in West Frankfort, recently organized a unique fundraiser that supported their local fire department for the first time. This event marked a new chapter in their community engagement efforts.
Firefighters from the West Frankfort Fire Department were actively involved, helping to take orders, prepare food, and even share a meal with the public. A generous 20% of all proceeds from the event went directly to the fire department, and they also sold cookies and accepted donations. In total, they raised $1,132.51 — a significant contribution that will help support their mission.
In addition to the food service, several firetrucks were on site, allowing the public to tour them and get a closer look at the equipment that keeps their community safe. The event was not just about fundraising but also about building stronger connections between the firefighters and the residents.
According to the Moreland family, spending quality time with firefighters helps build trust and makes people feel more comfortable around them in case of an emergency. It’s a valuable opportunity to foster positive relationships within the community.
