The Moreland family, who own the McDonald’s in West Frankfort, recently organized a unique fundraiser that supported their local fire department for the first time. This event was not just about raising money—it was also an opportunity to build stronger community ties.
Firefighters from the West Frankfort Fire Department participated in the event by taking orders, preparing food, and even sharing a meal with customers. The event was a hit, with 20% of all proceeds going directly to the fire department. In addition to selling cookies, they also accepted donations, which totaled $1,132.51—a great achievement for the community.
To make the event more engaging, several firetrucks were on site for the public to tour, giving residents a closer look at the equipment that helps keep them safe. It was a fun and informative way for people to connect with the firefighters who serve them daily.
The Moreland family emphasized the importance of spending one-on-one time with firefighters to build trust and create a more comfortable relationship, especially in times of emergency.
