To whom it may concern,
I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been following the historical photos shared on the Chicago Area Fire site, and I found them fascinating. While delving into my family’s history, I came across a few old photographs that I believe might be of interest. A friend recently suggested I share them here in hopes of getting some expert insight.
I’m currently trying to determine the dates and details of these three photos (attached). Based on what I know about my great-grandfather’s service, I think they could date back to between 1918 and 1924. This is partly because his fireman’s badge is marked with the year 1918, and he was involved in the Curran Hall Fire in 1924. It’s possible the men in the photos are from Engine Company 5.
I’m not very familiar with the uniforms, equipment, or specific details of that era, so I would really appreciate any help from those who have expertise in this area. If you can recognize any of the uniforms, vehicles, or names, I’d be incredibly grateful for your input.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Anne
