Flight for Life, marking their 35th anniversary in 2019, shut down their helicopter base in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on Friday, January 18, 2019, after a decade of providing emergency medical transport services from the city. The decision came as part of a broader strategy to reduce their helicopter fleet, according to a post on their Facebook page. While the McHenry, Illinois base will continue operating, the Waukesha-Milwaukee location is expected to move to the West Bend, Wisconsin area.

Flight for Life has also expanded its ground-based emergency response by launching an ambulance service last October with two units. A third ambulance is set to go into service soon, as announced on their official Facebook page. This shift suggests a growing focus on land-based emergency care, possibly due to cost efficiency or changing operational needs.

As part of this transition, the organization has been seen deploying new ambulances and updating their fleet, reflecting a strategic evolution in their approach to emergency medical services across the region.
