Arlington Heights police and firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 209 LaSalle Street late Wednesday night (March 20, 2019). Upon arrival, officers confirmed flames in the garage. The first engine on scene verified the fire and reported heavy flames on the rear of the home, affecting both the first and second floors. Firefighters quickly deployed lines to the garage and the rear of the structure.
As the incident progressed, a water main rupture occurred two houses west of the hydrant being used by Engine 4. This caused a disruption in water supply, prompting Engine 3 to lay a supply line from a different hydrant on an alternate main to support the operation. Meanwhile, Arlington Heights Engine 2 was positioned at the opposite end of the block, supplying Tower 1 and Palatine Quint 83. Buffalo Grove Tower 25 was also on the scene and assigned as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) company to ensure firefighter safety.
The response involved multiple units from different departments, showcasing coordinated efforts to control the blaze. Several fire engines, including Pierce Quantum and Pierce Velocity models, were seen working at the scene. A tower ladder unit, the Pierce Dash CF PUC, was also deployed to assist with operations.
Photos captured the intensity of the fire, including the water main break nearby and the dramatic nighttime firefighting efforts. These images highlight the challenges faced by crews during the incident and the critical role of emergency services in responding to such situations.
