Firefighters from Buffalo Grove were called to 685 Le Parc Circle on Tuesday afternoon after a homeowner received an alert on their phone about a fire alarm. Initially classified as a Code 2 for an alarm investigation, the situation escalated to a Code 3 when the homeowner returned home and discovered smoke in the unit.
Upon arrival, Buffalo Grove Battalion 4 found light smoke around the eaves of the building and upgraded the call to a Code 4, indicating a working fire. Fire crews entered the unit and climbed onto the roof, while mutual aid units checked the adjacent buildings. Heavy smoke inside made it difficult to locate the fire’s origin in the attic, and concerns over potential spread led to further escalation to a MABAS Box Alarm.
The following companies responded to the scene: Buffalo Grove Battalion 4, Engine 26, Quints 25 and 27, Squad 25, Ambulances 25 and 26, and three additional chief officers. Mutual aid support came from Arlington Heights Engine 4 and Ambulance 4, Long Grove Squad 55 and 5500, Palatine Engine 82, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51, Wheeling Engine 42 and 2400, ambulances from Barrington Countryside, Lake Zurich, Schaumburg, and Lake Villa, a Libertyville squad, a Countryside engine, trucks from Mundelein and Grayslake (using a spare truck X-Mundelein), the Mess Canteen Unit M5, and Buffalo Grove EMA.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for observation after being evaluated at the rehab station. The incident highlights the coordinated effort of multiple departments working together to contain the fire and ensure public safety.
