Archeologists plan to return to ancient Greek shipwreck: mysterious machinery was discovered

Marine archeologist Brendan Frey of the Woods-Hall Ocean Institute in Massachusetts, USA, was wearing an advanced deep-sea diving suit Exosuit. Exosuit can double the diver's dive depth. Archaeologists such as Frei will examine ancient shipwrecks that found Andy Kisila’s mechanical devices. The Andyci Sila mechanism was manufactured in the 2nd century BC and consists of 40 bronze cogs and gears. It is believed to be the oldest calculator.

The Andi Kesila Machinery was discovered on the wreckage of an undersea Roman cargo ship on Andiquizilla Island. Previous studies have shown that Andy Kissila mechanical devices are used to calculate the movement of planets and the passage of time. The scan conducted in 2008 showed that this device may be used to predict the solar eclipse.

Sina Technology News Beijing time on September 28, according to foreign media reports, in 1900, archeologists found an ancient shipwreck on the seabed of Andy Kisileira, Greece. On the wreck, they discovered a mysterious mechanical device dating back to 2200. This mechanical device was manufactured in 100 BC and is believed to be the oldest calculator in the world. Now, Greek and American archeologists plan to use the advanced deep-sea diving suit Exosuit to return to ancient shipwrecks on Andi Kesilia. They hope to find more discoveries, such as discovering other artifacts and a second shipwreck. Exosuit can double archeologists’ depth of diving.

Andy Kisileira is a remote island in Greece. In the 1900 survey of the sea floor of Andiquizilla Island, archaeologists discovered the world's oldest calculator. This calculator is called "Andy Kisila Mechanism" and was manufactured in the 2nd century BC. This calculator is very complicated and consists of 40 bronze cogs and gears. Ancient Greeks used Andy Kisila mechanical devices to calculate the solar system's cycle. Andy Chisilla’s mechanical devices are extremely advanced. After 1500 European talents invented astronomical clocks with similar performance and complexity.

Now, archeologists hope to use the Exosuit deep-sea diving suit to return to this ancient shipwreck. Exosuit not only doubles their dive depth, but also allows them to stay safely on the ocean floor for longer periods of time. The archeologist Theodokis Theodoro said that Exosuit was developed by Canada's Nuytco Research, which allows divers to dive underwater for 492 feet (about 150 meters) while completing complex tasks. The diver's maximum diving depth has been only 196 feet (60 meters). Teodoro pointed out: "After putting on Exosuit, the divers become like Buzz Lightyear. This diving suit can improve their ability. With the help of Exosuit, I can hold for hours of continuous capture, acquisition and Excavation work."

Archeologists believe that there are still many artifacts on the shipwreck and surrounding areas waiting for them to discover. Along with the Andy Kisila mechanism, there was also a bronze statue, a young man. It is reported that this shipwreck is a cargo and carries loot goods to Rome. Researchers believe that there are still many other items on the shipwreck that have yet to be discovered. The head of the Underwater Archaeological Department of Greece, Angri Kemosi, said: “We have found many signs that we can prove that there are still other items.” In 2012 and 2013, Shimosi had been to Andy Kisilila. Shipwreck to investigate. Dimitris Korkmelis, another archaeologist of the expedition, pointed out: "There are still dozens of bronze products on the shipwreck. This cargo ship is loaded with various cargoes from Asia Minor."

Archaeologists hope that a new round of inspections will confirm the existence of a second shipwreck about 820 feet (about 250 meters) from this shipwreck. Only 44 inhabitants of Andi Kesira have once been part of a busy trade route in ancient times and the base of Silesian pirates. The Silician pirates kidnapped Caesar when they were young and executed extortion. Later, Caesar captured all the pirates and crucified them.

The Greek archaeological team will conduct the seabed expedition with the help of Brenden-Frey. Frei was a marine archeologist at the Woods-Hall Institute of Oceanography in Massachusetts, where he was involved in the mission of the Titanic sunken ship. For the past five years, Frey helped determine the identity of a series of ancient shipwrecks. He said: “We may find one or more striking statues. These statues were mistakenly left on the shipwreck in 1901 when the investigators mistaken them for stones.”

In addition to Exosuit deep-sea diving suits, Andy Kisila's shipwreck investigation mission will also use robotic mapping equipment and advanced new closed-circuit respirator, allowing divers to stay longer underwater. The expedition’s website states: “We will spend more time on the sea floor than anyone who visited this area because we are equipped with advanced mixed gas respirator. Each diver will stay on the sea floor for more than 30 minutes per day, with a keen sense of Safety is higher than previous divers."
