3-Alarm fire in Rolling Meadows, 3-4-15 (part 5)

Here's a report from Steve Redick at the 3-Alarm fire in Rolling Meadows, a northwest suburb of Chicago:

A large apartment complex was engulfed in flames. The building had limited access on three sides, and the water supply was challenging to establish. Adding to the difficulty were extreme cold temperatures, heavy snow, and ice covering the area. A resident attempted to jump from the third floor but did not survive. The fire destroyed a significant portion of the building, though it appeared to be contained by a fire wall. Firefighters deployed two elevated master streams, a deck gun, and several handlines to bring the fire under control. An aerial view highlights the size of the structure and the challenges faced during the operation. Interestingly, a daylight photo from a similar fire in this same complex several years ago shows a comparable outcome, but in much more favorable weather conditions.
